I’ve been a customer at Okrumong for the past six years, and I’ve always enjoyed the quality of their bingsu and taiyaki. Unfortunately, my visit on July 25 was a completely different experience. The black sesame bingsu had a strong pepper-like taste, making it unpleasant to eat. On top of that, the taiyaki we ordered didn’t arrive until about 30 minutes later, so we no longer had time to enjoy it at the restaurant and had to take it to-go. When we politely brought up the taste of the bingsu with an employee (a young man with glasses and shoulder-length hair), he became defensive, spoke to us rudely, and walked away in the middle of the conversation before we could finish explaining the issue. At that point, we weren’t even complaining about the delayed taiyaki. We simply wanted to let them know something seemed wrong with the dessert. We did eventually receive an apology for the delayed taiyaki, but only after we asked about the reason for the delay. The employee explained that he had mixed up our order with another table. I’ve been coming to Okrumong for years, more times than I can reasonably count. I’ve brought my parents, my kids, friends, people visiting from out of town. It has become one of those places you stop debating because you already know what you’re going to get. In the South Bay, when somebody wants bingsu, this is still one of the first places that comes to mind. And the frustrating thing is that the dessert is genuinely very good. The snow is properly fine and soft, closer to fresh powder than shaved ice and the flavors are restrained enough that you can bring almost anyone here without worrying that they’re going to be assaulted by sugar. The red bean works. The mochi balls are excellent and worth adding, even if you’ll feel mildly extorted every time you pay for extras. I’ve worked through most of the menu over the years and rarely had anything fundamentally bad. The taiyaki deserves some credit too. The cheese version in particular is ridiculously satisfying and the red bean is dependable. Coffee is forgettable, but nobody should be driving here because they heard whispers about the espresso program. The problem is everything surrounding the food. Okrumong has always been expen

Awesome bingsu. Small servings but hit the spot. Awesome rice cakes very delicious. Great place for a casual date. Cozy place to hang out.

beautiful little Cafe on this cool little strip. classy is the best word for it. I like the menu as it's Korean owned and flavored coffee shop. meaning they have some wonderful teas and coffee is mainly directed towards what you would find in Korea. lots off goodies and wonderful atmosphere. what I didn't like was the lack of wifi. not a big deal or even necessary.

Cute coffee/dessert restaurant that's tucked in a plaza near King Hawaiian. Plenty of parking. Very cozy feeling inside. Excellent friendly customers service. Food/drink ordered: Mini snow strawberry- very lite and flavorful. Refreshing on a hot summer day. Right amount of sweetness. Mini snow green tea with red bean- very lite and flavorful. Refreshing on a hot summer day. Right amount of sweetness. Iced Omiza tea- very flavorful. I was a bit surprised. Might not be everyone's cup of tea :) Iced matcha latte- smooth and flavorful but I've had better elsewhere. Taiyaki - custard- good and fully packed with custard. Although somisomi doesn't pack as much custard, it's still better imo. Cheese- very tasty and fully packed with cheesy goodness.
